Supplier of ‘Rotten Apples’ Foxconn hit by hackers

Follow up from RiskIntel, and a warning from yours truly… Internet Explorer is STILL a security risk:

9to5Mac is reporting that a group calling itself SwaggSec was behind the alleged compromise, and was able to gain access to Foxconn’s internal networks thanks to an exploit in an unpatched copy of Internet Explorer that was being used by a Foxconn employee.

Obligatory disclaimer: Foxconn is used by Dell, HP and others.

A group of hackers known as Swagg Security is taking credit for a breach of Foxconn security, resulting in the theft of usernames, passwords, and other private information.

In a series of Twitter posts yesterday, the group boasted that it publicly released the information on the Pirate Bay Web site as well as on Pastebin. The attack grabbed the credentials of every Foxconn employee, according to 9to5Mac, including Terry Gou, CEO of parent Hon Hai Industries.

Beyond damaging Foxconn internally, the stolen information could also create trouble for some of the company’s technology partners.

“The passwords inside these files could allow individuals to make fraudulent orders under big companies like Microsoft, Apple, IBM, Intel, and Dell,” Swagg Security said on its Pastebin page. Be careful ; )”

«o» The US has closed it’s embassy and is removing all personnel from Syria as the UN talks collapse and the Syrian government begins a full scale assault on Homs, the center of rebel activity. Since the failure of the UN Security Council to come to agreement on sanctions against Syria, there is talk of sanctioning Western countries who continue to do business with them. THAT would be the death blow for some European economies but ask the countries that fomented an armed rebellion in Syria, the US and Britain, whether they care about most of the EU economy, except when it affects theirs.

«o» They’ve been owned! The ‘shadowy group of hacktivists known as ‘Anonymous’ has released phone calls between the FBI and Scotland Yard related to the Paypal hacking incident… But that’s not the funny part. They’ve also released conversations between at least one US congressman, Allen West, and the legal team defending the USMC soldiers just slapped on the wrist for the Haditha Iraq massacre of over twenty Iraqi civilians.

Excerpt, and remember, 20 CIVILIANS were killed in cold blood in the incident the lawyers were defending the Marines for which had nothing to do with SEAL teams or pissing on dead Talib fighters:

If you HAVE to piss on them. Do what you have to do, spread the word around town (tell everybody what you did), become a ‘folk hero’, but don’t share it with the WORLD in a photo or on the internet.

Don’t give the Muslim world and all of the ‘tree huggers’ ammunition so they can speak negatively of our military and our service members.

It’s like the Abu Ghraib Prison incident. Pose for photos with the prisoners, have some fun, and do what you need to do, BUT don’t put it on the internet. No/no one would have ever heard of that ‘session’ if they kept it off of the internet.

As you mentioned, a Navy SEALs successfully completes his mission, does a great job, but someone will focus on him ‘giving the enemy a fat lip’. Hell, beat his ass. Just do it where others can’t see it happen.

«o» Egypt will prosecute forty three members of the NGO International Republican Institute for interfering in the internal affairs of the country. There are 19 Americans in that group of potential arrestees who are holed up at the US embassy including the US Secretary of Labor’s son.
