[Updated] Santa Cruz “IndyBay”: No need for truth when you have an agenda

Update: Note that my redacted post has been returned to the comments @ Santa Cruz IndyBay. The provoking comment however has not re-appeared. I do not recall that it was trolling in any significant way. If it WAS the commenter left themselves wide open for a rational response and I still feel my work was left without context.

I just spent quite a few minutes responding to a question at IndyBay Santa Cruz regarding the local property crime rate, just to find the rather pointed, but NOT OFF-TOPIC or rude comment gone, my response without context, and in the process a GRAVE DIS-SERVICE to understanding the issues at hand regarding the allegations of “Hysteria” in this community about public safety has been done.

The so-called “Moderators” at IndyBay Santa Cruz constrain the ability of commenters who respond to those legitimate if ‘loaded’ questions when they remove the provoking comment.

I’d like the moderator at Santa Cruz IndyBay to write one coherent sentence explaining their reason for causing me to waste my time, but they never respond, except by removing the request for response. I suspect they’re either illiterate, or ignorant.

The post I was responding to WASN’T troll bait.

It WASN’T Off-topic.

There IS a reasonable response that WOULD educate the community.

So what WAS the problem with the post I was responding to?

It wasn’t on their agenda.

I wrote, in response to the “rather pointed but NOT OFF-TOPIC or rude comment” questioning why Santa Cruz California has an allegedly “soaring” “Property Crime” rate:

Because property crime IS ALWAYS HIGHER in areas where the AFFLUENCE IS HIGHER.

Want to fix that? Get the jackasses called county supervisors and city council(ors) crackin’ on PLANNING for a NORMAL COMMUNITY with a broad spectrum of incomes, housing and jobs affordable to the people who actually live here… ESPECIALLY the kids.

After all, they’re the ones who commit most of the property crimes that spike the charts, like shoplifting, burglary and theft.

Further, on that “Housing Thing”, the latest housing development downtown, “Walnut Commons” has been advertised as ‘co-housing’ for middle class families… You know. Central kitchen and all that folksy communal type stuff delayed-gratification yuppies like to talk about but never actually live.

What middle class family with kids would actually live in that situation?

None.

The project is based on a LIE like all other housing developments purported to be for local people around here (The old ice plant… the slum behind the town clock etc), it gets turned into transient office worker or college student housing because all the workers here couch surf or live with eight other people to make the rent and still have money for food and transportation.

However it will be VERY attractive to people from out of state on contract to Deloitte Touche or somesuch who will rent the CruzIo cubies and have (I can see the ad in the back of the NY Times Sunday magazine now) ‘housing footsteps away from where you work just minutes from Sea and Trees’.

How about a deal like THAT for New Leaf’s baggers, CVS shelf stockers, and other SERIOUSLY UNDERPAID in relation to cost-of-living local workers?

But Nooooo. So you end up with a gentrified affluent ‘community’ with an allegedly soaring property crime rate, and the truth of the matter is the property crime rate has always been astronomical around here but until quite recently there weren’t freakzoids like TBSC reporting every rock kicked on their lawn, nor 1st Alarm guards who are a generators of mostly marginal-from-a-legal-perspective or bogus reports that, in the process, ensure their continued $15.00 an hour employment.

It simply make the problem worse draining $80,000 dollars a year from the city treasury for EACH PATROL (and aside from multiple ‘guards’ downtown, EVERY PARK IN SANTA CRUZ has a ‘watchman’ now) while everyone else suffers from that diversion of funds that could be put to much better uses as housing and job development funding.

So stop whining and enjoy your police state. I’m SURE that’s the option you chose so STFU.

A BIG Shout out to the Crypto-Fascists infesting my community… “Take Back Santa Cruz” & “The Clean Team”

More on those property development interest “Astroturf” Hate Orgs at This IndyBay post, and Here. There’s more information about them at various places around IndyBay, but it’s enough to know they are a hate org in disguise. Their followers who simply want safe streets are totally unaware of their overarching agenda.

What $160,000 dollars a year buys in contracts to ‘First Alarm’ for privatized patrols in Santa Cruz California city parks.

Can you IMAGINE how many jobs… jobs for Santa Cruz youths, could be subsidized with that amount of money? And that $160K figure is JUST FOR ONE PARK!

This is occurring against a background of a massive youth unemployment, drug, alcohol and homelessness problem in a city that’s ignorantly and simplemindedly written off the causation of all social problems in the city to ‘transients’, the ‘homeless’, and ‘gang problems’, instead of the city ‘government’s unwillingness to see to the well-being of ALL OF it’s citizens… as it pimps it’s job and housing market to the more lucrative “Flexible Labor” youth market (according to the city ‘Flexible Labor’ keeps their bond ratings high) overseen by the UC regents, which defacto controls those markets at the expense of Santa Cruz’ citizens.

Bottom photo: A First Alarm Security ‘guard’ hovers over a man who was simply trying to rest alone on Louden Nelson Center park’s lawn. The guard stood there without talking to his victim for at least ten minutes.

It’s MayDay! This is my only post for the day. I’m going to raise hell and hang with the local functional community of anarchists at the Santa Cruz Drum Circle.

CC: My Tumblr because I’m sick of the nepotistic ‘moderation’ that takes place @ IndyBay Santa Cruz

You can pull down my posts with the truth about Robert Norse and his little cult of personality but even still the only people who showed for their shindig at Louden this afternoon were… How should I say? Institutional. as in “ized’ or “izable’ which makes my point to even the most casual observer.

BTW Officer Winston gave me a camping ticket last night. OMG OMG OMG!.

THE BRUTALITY OF IT ALL!

We both had a good laugh about Westboro Baptist Church’s similarity to HUFF before he made me move.

You people just don’t get it. Tickets mean less than squat to most of us. The LACK OF JOBS AND HOUSING THAT CAN BE AFFORDED WITH THE JOBS IS WHY there are so many homeless in Santa Cruz.

Despite what the poverty pimps would have us think the number of certifiable fed check receivers as homeless around here is minimal compared to the number of people who would like to work.

They just don’t blabber nonsense like “beatings all over town” and other provocative shit to gain notoriety, so Robert isn’t interested in talking to them..

Further, just to cement my point that Robert IS AN ENEMY OF THE HOUSELESS, Robert picked a fight last night right where everyone hangs out with the TBSC Fascist with the cam who owns the Bike Dojo, which will SURELY come back on houseless people NOT Robert, at home.

Santa Cruz, California (April 25, 2013) Bob Brozman was found dead at his home in Santa Cruz, CA in the evening of April 23, 2013. Brozman, the steel-guitar innovator who got his start playing on the streets of Santa Cruz, died at age 59.

A legend in the world of blues and roots music who integrated styles from all around the world into his music, Brozman was one of the world’s most beloved musical figures. His uniquely bold playing style and banter with the audience at his live shows gave him the opportunity not just to entertain with his sharp wit, but also challenge core assumptions about the function of rhythm and sound.

The last I knew Bob was living in Hawaii using his ethno-musicological skills to catalog the similarities between music native to the Pacific and American country music.

Bob, if not one of the founders of the Santa Cruz Street Performer’s Guild, was very close to it’s founders in ALL ways. He and Keith Greeninger headlined a a sold out benefit for that organization at Louden Nelson center a number of years back. I had the pleasure of stage managing that show.

I remember when Bob would play on the streets he drew such a large crowd the police “had no choice” but to tell him to leave… Just in case anyone’s wondering where the culture “organic” to Santa Cruz went. They got chased away or priced out of the corruptly developed housing and job market, leaving them unable to afford a garret to live in, eventually leaving the hard case winos speedfreaks and junkies behind in place of anything resembling a happily benign counterculture.

I see NO ATTEMPT by the jokers who run this city to remedy that. I just see more insult to injury for anything resembling FREE ART on a daily basis and I WILL SCOFF at any attempt to memorialize Bob by the city’s current cretins-in-charge.

As an aside, EVERYTHING his friend Tom Scribner, ANOTHER city-pimped-for-publicity local musician and living piece of American history used to do while bowing his saw downtown is thoroughly illegal now thanks to the wise wise “lawmaking” of our city’s development interest bought City council.

The Other Side Of The Coin:
Counterinsurgency And Community Policing

Kristian Williams

(This paper grew out of a lecture presented at the “Econvergence,” First Unitarian Church, Portland Oregon; October 3, 2009.)

Abstract

This essay outlines the current counterinsurgency model, with an emphasis on its domestic application in the United States. It shows that many contemporary counterinsurgency practices were developed by police agencies inside the U.S., and illustrates the transfer of theory, strategy, and technique from domestic police to the military - and back. The essay also examines the state’s use of nongovernmental or nonprofit agencies, as one element of counterinsurgency strategy, to channel and control political opposition. [emphasis mine -RR] The conclusion briefly considers the strategic implications for social movements, especially as we learn to recognize and respond to political repression.

Just Sayin’.
"These are the dox for the preliminary hearings of 11 local citizens who were arbitrarily accused of squatting in an abandoned bank towards the end of Occupy Santa Cruz (California). The squat was called #75 River. There are still 3 of the 11 facing possible trial. $100,000 dollar cost to the taxpayer and counting. Not to mention the incredible amount of time and energy taken from these ordinary citizen’s lives to defend themselves from accusations of something they just… hadn’t… done."

An Open Letter to Santa Cruz Food Not Bombs

It’s quite nice that FNB is feeding the homeless on the steps of the post office, and I AM one of those displace workers in Santa Cruz, but there are TWO simple problems with your operation and ONE simple problem with YOUR OPERATORS, with the previously mentioned ‘feeding by the drum circle’ as an example.

1> NO ONE in Santa Cruz goes hungry unless they’re literally trying to starve.

2> Considering the location and the comments above from the HOUSED AND OVER-FED, it’s quite obvious you’re attempting to stir up a confrontation. Hungry people just want to eat, and you are BLATANTLY attempting to use that to get your NAMES IN THE NEWS… again.

Per point #2, it’s a confrontation in a vacuum and it’s inevitable considering that’s the content between Colby and Norse’s ears when it comes to issues regarding the houseless. Maybe Norse and Colby might be interested in putting their energy into something the displaced in Santa Cruz REALLY NEED. Housing.

Robert Norse might like to lead a squat. (Backatcha Dry Snitch. You are NEVER going to live down giving my name to a complete stranger as someone who might be interested in an illegal squat.)

Last, in regard to the OPERATORS. I remember when FNB showed up a VERY few times at the drum circle on the levee… and then the rest of the times they EXPECTED the people at the drum circle to stop what they were doing to traipse down the street to be fed like some flock of sheep. You act like fucking Xtians.

Much different than when the circle was at the Farmers market and the food was served right there.

The drummers were going to follow you NOWHERE, and attempts to get your OPERATORS to understand that and move their ops to where the people were was futile because you’re looking for ‘followers’.

If you need codependents… Try the so-called Shelter.

FNB IS NOT A CULT to be followed. It goes where the hungry are.
It DOES NOT expect the hungry to go to them.

Good luck. And in case you’re planning on removing this post, I’m putting it in other places much more public and less censored than this.
