What $160,000 dollars a year buys in contracts to ‘First Alarm’ for privatized patrols in Santa Cruz California city parks.
Can you IMAGINE how many jobs… jobs for Santa Cruz youths, could be subsidized with that amount of money? And that $160K figure is JUST FOR ONE PARK!
This is occurring against a background of a massive youth unemployment, drug, alcohol and homelessness problem in a city that’s ignorantly and simplemindedly written off the causation of all social problems in the city to ‘transients’, the ‘homeless’, and ‘gang problems’, instead of the city ‘government’s unwillingness to see to the well-being of ALL OF it’s citizens… as it pimps it’s job and housing market to the more lucrative “Flexible Labor” youth market (according to the city ‘Flexible Labor’ keeps their bond ratings high) overseen by the UC regents, which defacto controls those markets at the expense of Santa Cruz’ citizens.
Bottom photo: A First Alarm Security ‘guard’ hovers over a man who was simply trying to rest alone on Louden Nelson Center park’s lawn. The guard stood there without talking to his victim for at least ten minutes.
If true, this is total bullshit.
It’s Public Safety You HAVE NO Rights:
Here’s the info on the “public safety exception”, from FBI site.
Paul Craig Roberts has already noted the ease with which authorities locked down a major metropolitan area to hunt for two people who had killed no more victims than a South Central drive-by shooting might.
Try to keep in mind when the ‘backpack’ discussion is broached that Tom Bihn, baggage maker for the global merc market, will make it in any color you want as long as it’s black like every other piece of police baggage in the world… and about that “SEAL/CRAFT” Thing (with more on “Chechens… What do THEY have against us? Nothing… But…)

Matthew McKnight writes about a case challenging the N.Y. Police Department’s stop-and-frisk policy: “The relationship between law enforcement and communities that the N.Y.P.D. has determined contain high concentrations of crime—thus requiring a heightened police presence—is a complicated, quarrelsome one”: http://nyr.kr/Zy8Rsb

Further elaboration or perhaps clarification of language on “Can I See Your I.D.” while walking. IF the officer says you ARE being detained ask what the “nature and scope” of the investigation is. If they don’t state then ask again if you’re free to go or…

There’s only one area that I think needs more explanation. When walking, and if stopped by a police officer, if he asks for your ID, you are not required to give to him unless his request is lawful, which would necessitate you knowing why he stopped you. So you may ask him why you are being detained, and if his request is lawful, even if you disagree, you are then required to identify yourself - not necessarily give him an identification card. If you are not operating a motor vehicle, you are not required to carry identification on you. Personally, I leave my ID in my car on purpose for that very reason. If his request is unlawful, such as saying that “walking down the street at 2am is suspicious”, then you are not required to present identification to him because his reasoning is lacking “specific and articulable facts that would indicate to a reasonable person that a crime has been, is being, or is about to be committed.”
Memorizing that little line could really help you ^

Police lock down several elementary schools after rumors of a gun

The Wall Street Journal about that armed guard thing. The NRA now wishes for what it always opposed. A police state. Do you believe them?

Cop Shoots 20lb Puppy While Writing Owner Parking Ticket Out Front of his Own House
While FOX 32′s Larry Yellen was interviewing the dog’s owners, two police officers drove by the home.
90 minutes later, they came back, asked why Phillips why he had contacted the media and gave him a ticket for not keeping Colonel on a leash.
“They were giving us a ticket, three days after the fact,” says Phillips. “So I think they’re probably trying to cover their rear ends.”
A police spokesman says the shooting is being investigated by the independent police review authority, which investigates all police shootings.
The Phillips family says they’re considering a petition drive to have the officer who shot their dog taken off the streets. They also say that after shooting the dog, the officer put his gun back in his holster, and calmly finished writing the ticket for their van.
